Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening and Support through the National Family Support Network

What are the Standards of Quality?

A set of standards adopted by the National Family Support Network that integrate and operationalize the Principles of Family Support Practice for all different kinds of Family Strengthening and Support programs such as Family Resource Centers.

How many Standards of Quality are there?

There are 15 standards organized around four domains each with foundational and high quality indicators. These domains are:

  1. Family Centeredness

  2. Family Strengthening

  3. Community Strengthening

  4. Evaluation

In 2026, at least two Standards of Quality trainings will be provided by the Washington Family Support Network free of charge for network members.

REAL Pro: Resilient Attitudes and Living for Professionals through the Center for Child and Family Well-Being at University of Washington

What is REAL Pro?

A program to support the well-being of Family Support Professionals in order to better serve children, youth, and families.

What are some skills are offered in REAL Pro?

  • Promoting ones own social-emotional skills and well-being through mindfulness and self compassion

  • Strengthening the social-emotional skills and well-being of parents and caregivers

  • Supporting the social-emotional development of children and youth

  • Enhancing relationships with colleagues and families

  • Building a culture of compassion and resilience at work

In January 2026, the network meeting will include a presentation of REAL Pro and opportunities to sign up for the training. This training is grant funded through summer 2026.
