The Physical Education top 10 outcomes are:

Curriculum Summary
Year 7 & 8
All students in years 7 & 8 study PE for two lessons per week. Each activity is studied for between 3 & 5 weeks in duration.
Activities covered include Games: Football, rugby, basketball, badminton, netball, hockey and rounders.
Athletic Activities: Health and fitness, Track and Field Athletics.
Gymnastics: Gymnastics and Dance.
For each area of activity, the focus is on the four areas of the National Curriculum: Acquiring Skills, Selecting Skills, Health & Fitness and Analysis.
Year 9
All students in year 9 study PE for two lessons per week. Each activity is studied for between 3 & 5 weeks in duration.
Activities covered include Games: football, rugby, basketball, badminton, netball, hockey and rounders.
Athletic Activities: health and fitness, track and field athletics.
Gymnastics: gymnastics, dance and trampolining
Swimming: strokes and personal survival
For each area of activity, the focus is on the four areas of the National Curriculum: Acquiring Skills, Selecting Skills, Health & Fitness and Analysis.
Year 10

Examination areas
Year 10 BTEC Introductory Certificate - Sport & Leisure
The new Certificate is designed to encourage students to develop the personal skills and qualities needed for work. The Certificate is very much a `hands on` course, with each unit being taught in the context of a real job and career. This gives the student the chance to explore the different opportunities offered in the Sport & Leisure sector.
The course is made up of 4 units: 2 core units, which everyone takes, a compulsory Personal Skills unit and one optional unit. The optional unit enables students to study a particular area in more depth.
All students will take the following units:
- Starting work in Sport & Leisure
- The Healthy Body
Students take one of the following Personal Skills units:
- Personal Effectiveness
- Social Responsibility at work
- Financial Management
Students take one of the following Optional units:
- Organising a Sport or Leisure Event
- Issues in Sport & Leisure
- Taking Part in Sport
- Introducing Customer Service
How is the course assessed?
The Core and Optional units are Pass, Merit or Distinction. The Personal Skills unit is Pass or Fail.
Year 10 & 11 GCSE
Physical Education (Edexcel Exam Board)
The GCSE PE course is split into two main areas: theory and practical. The theory is worth 40% of a final mark, and the practical 60%. Theory is allocated 1 lesson per week and this will be mostly classroom-based work with some experiments taking place. The practical aspect is allocated 2 lessons and during this aspect students will take part in a number of different activities.
Students will be assessed in four different activities and they must come from two of the three sections listed.
Invasion Games: football, basketball, hockey, netball, rugby union.
Net/Wall Games: badminton, table tennis, tennis, volleyball.
Strike, Field Games: cricket, rounders, softball.
Gymnastics: trampolining
Swimming: swimming strokes and personal survival
Fitness: Fitness conditioning.
