Curriculum

The school believes that each child has an entitlement to high quality learning opportunities within a broad and balanced curriculum. Lessons should be delivered in a stimulating environment by subject specialists who can bring their subject to life and engage young minds to want to discover new concepts.

Students are ‘banded’, based on ability suggested by prior attainment, in order to ensure that lessons are pitched and resourced at the right level for individual learners’ needs. Band W is for accelerated learners who could achieve GCSE grades C to A*; Band X is for broad learners who could achieve GCSE grades E to B; Band Y is for consolidating learners who could achieve GCSE grades G to D.

Throughout their time at Weston Favell School students will have many opportunities to enrich their experience through special opportunities. These include: activity days, trips & visits, vocational experiences including ‘Work Experience’ & ‘Enterprise’ learning, a range of sporting, drama & musical experiences, visiting speakers and participation in regional/national competitions.
