Ethos

We aim to provide each student with a business education appropriate to their needs. Students are treated as they would be treated in a real business, and they work hard to achieve the best grades possible. Successes are celebrated through a student of the week scheme. Our excellent industrial links allow students to see businesses, as well as learn about it.

Curriculum Summary

Key stage 4 students (Year 10 & 11) work towards the achievement of GCSE Business Studies (6 teaching groups), or a BTEC Introductory Certificate in Business and Retail (2 teaching groups).

Year 12 Students have the option to take a 1 year BTEC First Diploma in Business. This vocational approach is particularly suitable for students who prefer coursework rather than exams. Most students who take this route usually then progress onto A-levels the year after. A one day a week placement is a component of this course.

In addition the students participate in Young Enterprise students are offered the chance to set up and run their own business over the course of the school year. They are able to run a company and hopefully make money. This leads to a recognised qualification at the end, as well as teaching the students a lot about the perils and pitfalls of running a business.

6th form students also have the choice of A-Levels. Within our department, we offer Business Studies, Accounting and Law at AS level. After the completion of these, most students progress onto A2.
